She REALLY rolled over. Again and again! On Saturday Linnea surprised us by rolling back-to-front to get one of her favorite toys, the musical ducky from the Brooktondale Psiakis. And then she kept doing it! It is so cute to watch and she has gotten a lot more adept; I don’t get sad if I miss it while I’m in the kitchen anymore because I know it’ll happen again!
Bleh bleh bleh ma ma ba ba. If you don’t speak her language, that’s okay, cause she’s learning to speak yours! Almost simultaneously with her new rolling over trick, Linnea has expanded her vocabulary and sounds. When she babbles it’s a lot different now than it used to be—all those shrieks and squeals. She still does them but now there are a lot more options, too! It’s lots of fun and her laughter when we imitate her is just precious.
1, 2, 3, sit up, stand up! Baby girl’s legs are stronger and she does so well standing up with help! She has fun with this game where I pull her to a standing position from lying on her back. Makes her smile and laugh every time. :)
Better naps. Today was not good. But – over the last two weeks Linnea has napped consistently once and even twice a day, which has just been wonderful. Usually her morning nap has started in the car on the way home from somewhere and the afternoon nap is in the stroller. Last night she had terrible gas, poor baby, and I think everything got all thrown off, thus no naps today. But now she is sleeping peacefully so I’m praying for a fresh start tomorrow!
Squash. Oh, yeah! We hit the 1-month mark of rice cereal and I was just bored out of my mind of the little white stuff. I think Linnea was too. So even though our pediatrician seemed really conservative about starting solid food, we took matters into our own hands (we’re the parents, right?) and picked up some pureed squash, pears, carrots, sweet potatoes, and applesauce at the store. I plan to make a lot of baby food for her myself but just to get things started it’s easier to buy it. Tonight at dinner I fed her the rice cereal as usual, then busted out the orange stuff. (Unfortunately Tim wasn’t home, but we’d already agreed on squash as her first “real” food). And Linnea seemed to love it! She was grabbing the spoon in my hand to get it into her mouth faster. It was so much fun to feed her! I have read/heard that you should wait anywhere from 3 to 7 days before introducing a new food, so we’re going to go with about 4 days (the Gerber foods come in 2-packs and I got 2 of each; she’ll eat 1/2 a container each time, so I can use 1 pack to “introduce” the food and then have another for additional meals later on). Even though today was LOOONG with her not taking a nap, the squash boosted my mood and reminded me just how fun it is to have my little girl. I love her bunches!

Dear family and friends, sorry for the infrequent posts; our days here are full!
Some of our latest happenings:
- Linnea is SO CLOSE to rolling over…I know she has toppled over a couple of times but it’s been a while since thenand I put her on her belly all the time to encourage more rolling!
- She’s growing a lot more hair
- Out of about every 4 days Linnea will eat her rice cereal maybe twice, reject it once, and we’ll miss it entirely the fourth day. On the 21st it will be a month of rice cereal and we can up the frequency per our pediatrician, and hopefully get to try some more exciting things like fruits and vegetables!
- She’s outgrowing most of her 3-6 month clothes and we’ll need to go shopping for 6-9 months soon!
- I constantly have joy because of her sweet disposition, kissable cheeks and silly coos and squeals. She is the best little companion I could have asked for!
I’ll leave you with this…
