Linnea's dolls

Her favorite thing, I think, is taking care of her dollies. Linnea has such a sweet nurturing spirit, and I just know she's going to be a great mama someday. Today Peter took a longer than usual nap, and we girls had a fun time caring for her dolls. We fed them and gave them birthday presents.

Left to right, they are:

Hard Baby Doll (lying down; yes, that is her name)
Minnie
Rosy Nea
Charis
Ella (nee Felicity the American Girl Doll) Olivia (the tiny one)
Adalia (Linnea made up this name)
Stella

Then we had some snuggles under her blanket (Linnea's bed is somehow THE MOST comfortable bed in the house) and pretended to take naps, and chatted about what Linnea wants to be when she grows up. Today it was a doctor AND a nurse. For babies.

Girly, I think you've got the job!

More outdoor fun

Fun in the sun in our yard! You may notice, in some photos it looks like we have two little girls. Petey's UV swim shirt won't go over his head since that first wear last week, so I resorted to one of Linnea's for the time being. (You may remember me doing this with baby girl pajamas back when he was a baby and I hadn't done laundry. Hopefully the trend stops before he's old enough to remember.)

Also, check out his ADORABLE new Crocs. He'd been getting his sneakers soaked every time I turned on the sprinkler -- bare feet are no-can-do in our yard with all the concrete -- so I ordered him some. I love tiny kid versions of adult stuff! :)

Cinco de Mayo!

Este fin de semana nos disfrutamos mucho del tiempo bueno y lleno de sol. Miramos los juegos de crew para "opening day..." oh, forget it. I can't be like Karen and write my post in another language without using a dictionary for some key terms, and having only a couple brain cells left to rub together at the end of the night I'm just too lazy. But there's my attempt for Cinco de Mayo. Ole!

We had another gloriously sunny weekend here and watched the Opening Day (of boating season) crew races in Seattle yesterday morning. Unfortunately Cornell didn't take to the water until we were already back on the Eastside for Linnea's swim lesson, but we did manage to say hello to Todd at the Husky boathouse before they launched and he met Peter. Last night we also went to a banquet for rowers, family and friends and were two of only a few alumni present. It was a fun night out with some friends who used to be in our CG looking after the kids at their house. Thanks, Pam and Steve!

This morning we were up bright and early because our church just added a fourth service, moving us up to 8:30 instead of 9am. But we made it on time (a small victory in itself) for a really compelling sermon. Then we were outside for much of the day playing in the sprinkler, splashing in the water table and getting ready to have Cousin Alex and her bf Adam over for a Cinco de Mayo feast, featuring carne asada and Aunt Jane's tree leches cake. Both were a hit! I added whipped cream and pineapple to the top of the cake, and coconut on the side since it seemed to fit the theme and I really like it. It was a fun evening out on the deck in nearly 80 degree weather!

The photos are not all self explanatory this time:
1. Linnea, Peter and Tim in an empty racquetball court  after swim lesson.
2. Peter in his new favorite ride.
3. & 4. Linnea and Alex making up for all the times we've had her over and forgotten to take a picture.
5. Linnea and Peter pouring out all the containers of bubbles we own, aided by Adam in particular.
